Project Innovation
The Recipient will retrofit and replace the facility’s outdated refrigeration and compressed air systems, alongside the removal of high-GWP refrigerants onsite. These new systems will reduce both direct and indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by reducing electricity consumption, natural gas usage, peak demand load, and eliminate high-GWP refrigerant leaks. Additionally, loads currently served by an air-cooled chiller will be integrated into the new upgraded ultra-low GWP refrigerant (ammonia) refrigeration systems resulting in even greater emission reductions. By implementing these new systems, this project will set a new standard for energy efficiency in the dairy processing industry while serving as a model for sustainability initiatives across the sector.
